aka Nine Mile Canyon Trail

BIO:
Clarence "Gunplay" Maxwell considered himself a formidable gunfighter and is known to have killed several men. After serving time in the Utah State Prison for bank robbery he returned to Price, Utah where he ventured into the mining business. He was killed in a gunfight in a local saloon.
DIRECTIONS:
From the railroad tracks, head south 2 ½ miles. Take the left turn off the paved road and continue south on the main road. This is listed as the Flint Trail on some maps. On the “San Rafael Motorized Route Designations” map it is EM1010. At about 10 miles you will see the brush around Horse Bench Reservoir. In another mile, you will be at the dam, continue about a ½ mile and turn right (West) into the Nine Mile Canyon Wash. Keep heading west and stay in the wash. When you come to the next road, turn south and stay on this road. You will eventually see a road that turns off to the right. Stay on the main road. Same thing when you next see a road turning to the left. Stay on the main road. You will come to a –T- in the road. At this point, turn left (East). Stay on this road. Do not take the left-hand turn. When you reach another –T- in the road, turn right (South). This will bring you to the Gilles Ranch Road, on the “San Rafael Motorized Route Designations” map it is B6821. At this road, turn left (East). This road becomes EM1010 and will take you back to Horse Bench and Green River.
DESCRIPTION:
This trail begins at the mouth of the Nine Mile Canyon wash. The wash is wide and the bottom sandy. This is an easy trail with many sights to see along the way. The road eventually climbs to the high desert. It is easy to see and follow, and a very gentle trail. Along the route, there are many places to hike and explore. This is a great ride for families with younger riders.
